We are in the middle of a large archiving project at work. Every journal goes on a CD, with all the issues as subfolders of the root. A policy of one CD per publication results in the CD being burned in the time it takes me to write the inlay.
I can see the point, though. 168 of these journals, sprawling over multiple repeated copies in subfolders dependent on their temporary use at some time in the past…. Our server filled up then fell over, two months ago.
