Buck up, Tim, or: what a total webring

I posted some time ago about the chilling effect on free speech of rather too freely bandied-about writs. In doing so I made a Z-list contribution to a nascent webring in support of those on the receiving end of those legal letters. it was pleasing to see that they heavy-handedly sowed the seeds of their own destruction.

It’s happening again, of course, and in response I post this. This time, a lawyer acquanitance of Paul Guido Staines Fawkes is exchanging harsh words with Tim Ireland. This request seems to be tied to some observations Tim made about image links between certain websites, and is eyepoppingly ironic in the circumstances.

Ireland’s allegations are sufficiently minor that the majority of us might have ignored them the long term. But now one of the other parties in the dispute, cartoonist Matt Buck, has appeared above the parapet again to add himself to the headcount: this would have arguably not have happened in the absence of litigious warnings.

Hat tip, Obscurer, for finally shaking me out of my torpor on this issue.

    Perceptive point. Regards, Matt

  2. Tim Ireland says:

Thanks for that, sbalb. Perhaps I can tempt you with a half-time match report?

I now have visions of Nick, Elroy and sock-shaped pals performing the UK political blog equivalent of Harry Potter and the mysterious ticking noise..

  4. Tim Ireland says:

    Hahahahahaha! That’s awesome!

Hope the actual act doesn’t disappoint.

“White Lines”, hm? They were attempting political satire at an early age, then.
